Planting Your Legacy at Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences

Flowering treeThis is an extraordinary time in DMU’s history. Our new campus in West Des Moines is welcoming its first students. Our impact on Central Iowa is climbing as the DMU Clinic continues to serve patients at 3200 Grand Avenue. We also are entering the final year of the Purple & Proud Campaign, DMU’s most significant fundraising effort ever.

There has never been a more extraordinary and exciting time to support DMU’s vision for the future of medical and health sciences education. Alumni and friends can be part of that vision by making deferred gifts, also called planned gifts, to further strengthen the university.

BenchIncluding DMU as part of your will or estate plan can be as easy as listing the university as a beneficiary of a percentage or set amount of your estate. It also provides you with the satisfaction of knowing your legacy has made a truly meaningful contribution to future DMU students. Best of all, telling us about your intentions allows us to thank you now.

Please let us know if you are considering leaving DMU a planned gift in your estate plan or if you already have. Upon documenting your revocable commitment, we will honor you as a member of the prestigious Legacy Society, which recognizes individuals who make planned gifts to DMU. Informing us of your planned gift now also will let us celebrate your support of the Purple & Proud Campaign.

We’d love to welcome you into our Legacy Society before the Purple & Proud campaign comes to its conclusion. We have an exciting opportunity to share: DMU will name a tree on our new campus in honor of every donor who documents a planned gift by June 30, 2024. As part of our appreciation, we will install a ground-level plaque by the tree planted in your honor, which can be personalized to celebrate you or a loved one.

BenchTo learn more about planned giving opportunities, please visit campaign.dmu.edu. You will find sample bequest language, a statement of intent form and other helpful information on the advantages of deferred gifts. I also invite you to contact Stephanie Greiner, M.S. at (515) 271-1386 or stephanie.greiner@dmu.edu. We will work with you or your financial advisor to explore deferred gift options that will achieve your philanthropic goals.

Every gift impacts the lives of our students, their future patients and generations to come. Thank you for being a part of the continued history of Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences.
